To download the entire school snapshot, clink the link below (updated on June 15, 2010). This is a good starting point as it provides you a good look at the "big picture" of how we are doing in the areas of student engagement, student wellness, and looks at various aspects of our overall school climate. Our staff have been using the TTFM survey for the past two years now to guide our continual growth and improvement.
Some of the relevant data we used to guide our 7/8 multiage grouping for the 2010-11 school year
When you look at the detailed results, you need to know what it means to be "in the ribbon". In each of the graphs, you'll see a pink ribbon with a line through the middle of it. The line shows where the national average is for all Canadian Schools that are using the TTFM survey. If you are "in the ribbon", they would say we are in the 2nd or 3rd quartile (a statistics term), and if we above the ribbon, we are in the top quartile of the school populations. In this particular graph, it would be good to be ABOVE the ribbon.
The other thing to be aware of is this pink line that shows the "Replica School". This school doesn't really exist but represents a similar school that would match our socioeconomic indicators. So, that would mean that we are doing better than we should be if we were to compare ourselves to schools that have a similar socioeconomic profile to our school community (population, education level of parents, etc.)
This graph depicts the breakdown of positive teacher-student relations by gender and grade. The graph shows an obvious trend where our grade 8 students fall significantly below Canadian norms in this regard. Below you will see the breakdown of our student's positive sense of belonging. Once again, we see some room for improvement with our grade 8 student population.
The final graph shows that our grade 6 students are indeed trying hard to be successful. This becomes more somewhat more problematic in grade 7 and is of grave concern to us in grade 8.
